Flowers in Las Ramblas
Barcelona
After a week of absence for the birth of my second daughter, I return to the blog, and this time with a question … although I almost always opted for black and white, in this case I do not know what to do. What do you like more, the b&w or the color one?
I’ll definitely go for the colour one with the amazing colours of the blossoms! Great photo and it reminded me the good times from my recent travel to Spain, my gravatar picture was actually taken at the same spot too!
Thanks for the comment and your opinion, I have a dangerous “obsession” with b&w and it’s dificult to me to post in colour… :S.
I hope you enjoyed your travel to Spain.
Cheers
i agree how it feels like having a dangerous obsession with B& W
Jeje, the problem of this obsesion is that most of the times, didn’t like the result of my photos in colour…
oh is it…. i feel in BW the photos seem more peaceful than in vivid colors…
It’s really true!!!
First of all, Congratulations!
Second, I think I like the colour one better.
Really thanks!!! It’strange for me, but this time it’s possible that the better one becomes the colour… 🙂
I would go for B&W
Thanks for give me your opinion…appreciate it!! I prefer the b&w but in this case, i don’t know if the colour of he flowers will make it more interesting…
congrats and the color one is more eye catching:)
Thanks for the comment and for your aportation to resolve my doubt… 🙂
Congratulations! 🙂
I like the black and white one, but also like a bit of selective colour. With just the flowers in the pink vase (and the vase itself) highlighted in colour, that would be a great shot! 🙂
Thanks!!! It was a really good idea, i didn’t think it but it cuold be a really good solution for this photo!!
Congratulations! I like the the one with color but I also like the suggestion of selective color.
Thanks!!! I apprecite your opinion, in the next days i’ll try to edited the pic with selective colour to see how it works…
Perhaps in this case I shall opt by the color photos. In the frame of the picture the flowers are arranged at an intermediate distance and the group of color is more suggestive.
This is exactly what make me doubt, the colour of the flowers…
Awesome!!! The second one is beautiful than b&w….
Thanks for the comment!! I’m looking that more people prefer the colour one!! 🙂
I am not sure. I kind of prefer the b/w one over the one with colour. To be honest, even if the colours of the flowers are the main point of interest, I still think that the colours are a bit distracting (especially the colours in the background).
How about a colourkey, where the flowers and the vase are coloured, but the rest b/w?
Cheers,
Charlie
First of all, thanks for the comment. I appreciate it! You’ve all the reason when you say that the background colours are a bit distracting, and this is what make me doubt between one or the other. About the possibility of the colourkey, it was commented by other blogger too, and i think it could be a really good solution to this photo, i’ll work in it in the next days.
Cheers!!!!
Xavi
I love your B&W photography but have to go with the color photo on this shot. Many blessings to you and your extended family!
Really thank for the comment and your blessings!
ciao! congratulations for your new joy; family.
flowers are about colour. the b&w is lifeless.

Thanks for the comment and by stop at my blog!!
Reblogged this on lost creek publishing.
i love black and white. As a street photographer it allows mw to bring a certain “mood” to the picture. I learned this from another photographer.
Thanks for the comment!! I love b&w too, but in the case of this picture i’ve the doubt…i love the colour of the flowers too. :S.
Cheers!
Well said! color brings a good contrast as well.
I like the b/w-it pulls you into the photo to where you are looking at the shapes and composition-it really allows the eye to take in the whole scene-I just think it is more effective-
Thank you for the comment and explanation! Many people prefer the color one but I’m not convinced about it. :S
Best regards,
Xavi
I prefer the b/w over the colour. There is a lot going on in this photo and I think that b/w allows us to focus on the flowers as the main point of interest, and the background becomes less distracting.
Thanks for the comment and for try to help me to resolve the doubt :-), it’s true that the background colour distract a little bit…
Definitely color for this one. I have a hard time accepting flowers in B&W. the color photo has sepia tones behind the flowers that make it a nice contrast.
PS: Congratulations on the new baby!
Thanks for the comment and for try to resolve my doubt ;-), I appreciate it, and really thanks for the greeting!!!
there is more drama in color ….
Thankz for the comment, i appreciate your aportation!!
my pleasure
Perhaps because it is flowers– I enjoy the color! Great photographs! and all the BEST with your new daughter–what a precious gift you have brought into this world! and I am so happy that you are the kind of person who took the time …the special moments…to BE there for her birth and for your wife! Blessings to you all!
Really thanks for your comment! I appreciate it so much!!!!
The color one, due to joy of watching the lively color of the flowers.
Thanks for the comment and give me your opinion to try to resolve my doubt. I appreciate it!!! Cheers!!
Congrats! I too like the idea of selective color or a blend with the flowers in color and the background fading out in shades of grey.
Really thanks!!! The idea of selective color it’s great but i never think in the possibility of blend the flowers in colour and the background in progresive grey, and it’s a really good idea, i’ll take it in consideration!
B&W for me. The colour one looks too busy, I’d focus on a smaller area for a bigger effect in colour. The B&W looks cool, vintage and is more inviting.
Really thanks!
While I love the colour of the flowers in the colour shot, the B&W is appealing. I would crop the B&W a little tighter though – I find the background a little distracting without the pop of colour to pull my eye out of the street and into the flower display.
Really thanks for yor explanation and comment, I appreciate it and will consider. Best regards!
Personally, I would colorise the flowers and leave the rest black and white, it looks so vivid in colour though – I do prefer that.
Thanks for the feedback!!
